It’s hard to believe that this wine has never graced the pages of this blog. Pixie has been a staple in my life for years. This wine was served at my parent’s wedding, and when my husband and I got engaged, as well as many a birthday and weeknight. It’s a crowd-pleaser, in the best possible way. It’s easy to drink, complex enough that I discover something different in the glass each time I have a glass, and it’s damn enjoyable.Read More
When one of your favourite wineries releases a new wine, it feels like Christmas; I can’t wait to open the bottle and dive right in. Kew is an exceptional winery and if you’ve been there, you know how stunning the property is. It’s picturesque, but there’s something else at play here; a combination of great views, vines and viticulture.Read More
Sometimes you keep a bottle of wine in your wine fridge, cupboard, or cellar (I wish) and save it for a special occasion or the right moment. I often look through my wine fridge and think about what kind of wine suits the mood, the company, the day of the week. This is a sparkling Riesling (hence the name), and this wine sparkles (pardon the pun) in the glass.Read More
Summer is about spontaneity; it’s about driving to wine country on a whim because you can. It’s about sipping and tasting wines in the sunshine and eating woodfire pizza while overlooking one of your favourite vineyards.
Summer is also about discovery, and this summer I discovered a few incredible local wineries in both the Beamsville/Niagara area and Prince Edward County.
I love PEC. Having been visiting the area since 2012, it’s one of my favourite places to escape to for some relaxation and wine-drinking adventures. There are so many fantastic wineries in the County, many that I haven’t visited yet, but absolutely intend to in the coming months.
When your friends know you like wine, they will often tell you about their favourites. I have been hearing about Benjamin Bridge’s Nova 7 for over a year now - how vibrant and flavourful it is, how complex it is, but I had yet to try it (find it) for myself. That changed when my friend and business partner said she was coming over with a very special wine. I had a feeling it was the elusive Nova 7. I was right (I love it when I'm right).Read More
Last weekend I did something I’ve never done before – camp. Yes, that’s right, it was just me and the great outdoors, plus my boyfriend, birds, bugs, little furry animals and this great sparkling wine from Pelee Island Winery.
